There is an ever-increasing awareness that disappointing experience with the introduction of pcs in education are a effect of insufficiently taking into account factors that are important when introducing change in educational settings. Many of the problems inside the literature demonstrate great likeness with the sort of problems generally experienced in curriculum implementation. In this circumstance the endeavors to make laptop use an integrated part of class activities are analyzed. Emphasis will be laid on the discussion between educators and courseware; elements to get a more effective technique for the integration of computer utilization in educational practice will be presented, with attention to the design of support materials as an essential part of courseware.
Introduction Despite many nationwide and local pursuits, examples of successful computer utilization in classroom practice are still relatively rare. In many countries the number of computers in educational institutions has noticeably increased in recent years. However , little progress has been made: even now few teachers are actual users; software use is often restricted to exercise and practice type; the alignment with the curriculum style is poor. Research results (of the two surveys and case studies) by many countries point to the conclusion that there is continue to a long way ahead before laptop use will probably be effectively built-in in most classes (see e. g. Becker, 1986; Office of Technology Assessment [OTA], 1988, for the USA;, Chomienne, 1988; Olson & Eaton, 1986, for Canada; Cox, 1987, for the U. E.; Inspectorate, 1986; Plomp & Van living room Akker, 1988, for the Netherlands). There is certainly an increasing awareness that these disappointing experiences are a consequence of insufficiently considering factors that are crucial when introducing change in educational configurations. Many of the reported problems that educational institutions and educators face the moment implementing pc use demonstrate great similarity with the kind of problems frequently experienced in curriculum rendering (cf. Fullan, Miles, & Anderson, 1987; Sheingold, Matn, & Endreweit, 1987; Walker, 1986). On that basis we would like to investigate the endeavor to make pc use an included part of classroom activities sixty-five

from a programs implementation perspective. We shall begin with an overview of the variables that can influence the procedure and final results of curriculum implementation. Pertaining to the different categories of those variables we shall physician the literary works on pc use in education. Emphasis will probably be laid around the interaction among teachers and courseware. Based on this problem evaluation we shall present elements for a more effective strategy for the integration of computer use in the educational practice. Special attention will probably be paid towards the design of (written) support elements as a necessary part of courseware.
_ Drawing upon the work of Fullan (1982) and of Van Velzen, Miles, Ekholm, Hameyer, and Robin (1985), we propose a framework for discussing elements influencing the implementation of innovations inside the educational practice by distinguishing four categories of variables: national (and/or express and/or district) context; attributes of the college (organization); external support; features of the development itself. Inside each category several parameters can be pointed out:
Countrywide context central legislation and regulations; system of policy formation and decision making in educational affairs; time, resources and facilities provided for a great innovation; announced values and aims about an advancement; attitude of politicians and (other) thoughts and opinions leaders regarding an innovation....
